Manitowoc Crane Care to launch refurb partner program in EMEA and present several new initiatives at bauma 2013

1/28/2013 Munich, Germany

Manitowoc Crane Care will formally introduce its EnCORE partner program to EMEA markets at bauma 2013. In addition, Manitowoc’s service division will present its latest anti-collision system for Potain tower cranes and highlight its extensive training program.

Dominique Leullier, marketing and business development manager at Manitowoc Crane Care EMEA, said the focus will be on improving efficiencies for Manitowoc crane owners.

“We will show visitors at bauma 2013 how we are using the latest technology to help them run their operations more efficiently, and that our service network is growing to bring support closer to them,” he said. “Our organization has established a strong reputation for service. At bauma 2013, visitors can see the future of customer support from Manitowoc.”

One way Manitowoc Crane Care is utilizing its extensive EMEA dealer network for the benefit of customers is by rolling out the EnCORE partner program. The program certifies Manitowoc dealers to carry out crane rebuild and refurbishment work, speeding up and lowering the cost of such work. The EMEA partner program complements Manitowoc Crane Care’s own EnCORE facilities in Portugal, UAE, The Netherlands, Germany and the UK.

Gilberto Ferreira, global general manager of EnCORE, said the program makes refurbishment a much easier option for customers without loss of quality.

“For many companies one of the biggest obstacles to refurbishing a crane is the cost and time involved in sending the crane off,” he said. “By establishing a network of approved dealers to handle the work, and ensuring it is carried out and is consistent with our criteria, we can offer high quality refurbishments or rebuilds with a faster turnaround and at a lower cost.”

The first EnCORE dealer partner in EMEA is UN Mobilkraner of Denmark, which is now fully licensed to handle refurbishment work on Grove cranes in Denmark and Sweden. The company’s EnCORE operations report to the service team at the Manitowoc Crane Care facility in the UK.

Other appointments are expected shortly, with dealers in Africa and the Middle East particularly keen to secure EnCORE certification. The roll-out of the EnCORE partner program in EMEA follows its success in the U.S., where 10 dealers were appointed in 2011 to create the only comprehensive, nationwide rebuild service network in the country.

Hardware on show from Manitowoc Crane Care at bauma 2013 will include the new MC602 anti-collision system for Potain tower cranes. The new system is simpler to install than previous versions, yet still compatible with both the Top Tracing 1 and Top Tracing 2 systems.

A multi-function display gives the operator access to a variety of information, while the interference zone is automatically displayed. Job site management is made easier with built-in software that records events and highlights potential difficulties.

Other product highlights

Elsewhere on the Manitowoc booth, there will be a load-monitoring camera attached to one of the cranes on the stand with a live feed to computer screens inside the company’s booth.  Hazard lighting, sold through Manitowoc Crane Care, will also be shown as will a fully-loaded service van highlighting the mobile capabilities available to technicians.

Manitowoc Crane Care will also present information on its comprehensive range of products and services, including on-site services, training and spare parts distribution. Training in particular offers a variety of options for customers in EMEA, with multiple language training available at a range of locations across the region.
